Mac Jones Was Helping Cam Newton Learn The Patriots Playbook According To Rob Ninkovich
According to former Patriots great linebacker Rob Ninkovich, Mac Jones is grasping the Patriots playbook like a sponge. Mac is grasping it so well that according to Ninkovich’s sources inside the organization, Mac was helping Cam Newton learn the playbook throughout camp.
Ninkovich had this to say about Mac,
“From what I gained from sources inside the actual building, from everything I understand now, Mac was basically helping Cam learn the playbook.
“Because Mac was having less mental errors and having a better understanding of the offense. We didn’t see Cam running any two minute, we didn’t see him run any no huddle. You have to run no huddle. That’s vital.”
The Patriots playbook is said to be far and wide the most difficult to grasp in the NFL. The focus here should not be on Newton’s difficulty to grasp it. Patriots fans should be excited about how quickly and easily Mac Jones is able to take it all in. While you will never hear about this from Bill Belichick, the fact that he was able to win the starting job as a rookie over a former league MVP speaks volumes. The Patriots coaching staff obviously believe they have found something special in Mac Jones.
