Former Patriots WR David Patten Reportedly Dead At Age 47

While details are still very unclear at the moment. Former Patriots star Richard Seymour announced the death of former New England Patriots wide receiver David Patten.

A Twitter user, claiming to be Patten’s cousin, said he may have died in a motorcycle accident.

Patten spent four seasons in New England, and played a huge part in the beginning of the Patriots dynasty. Patten caught the first postseason touchdown pass of Tom Brady’s career. Patten also caught the first touchdown pass in Super Bowl 36

On October 21, 2001 he became the first player since 1979 to catch, run and throw for a TD all in the same game.

Patten will always be remembered for catching the first touchdown pass in Super Bowl 36 to help the Patriots upset the heavily favored Rams. Sad news.
