JD Martinez Signed A 1-Year Deal With The Los Angeles Dodgers

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Dodgers have reached an agreement with free agent slugger J.D. Martinez on a one-year, $10 million contract.

Martinez was one of the most feared right-handed hitters in the game, but had a down season in his final year with the Red Sox. Martinez hit .274/,341/.448 with 16 home runs, and 62 RBI over 596 plate appearances in his final season in Boston. Martinez will look to bounce back in the middle of the Dodgers lineup next season.

During the 2018 season, Martinez won the AL Hank Aaron Award as the league’s top offensive performer, leading the league in RBIs, while placing second in batting average and home runs. He also won the 2018 Players Choice Award for Player of the Year along with the being a member of the 2018 World Series Champion Red Sox.
