Video: Marcus Smart dismisses rumors about a potential beef with Jaylen Brown

The rumor mill has been swirling since Marcus Smart was traded away to the Memphis Grizzlies last week for Kristaps Porzingis. Smart was moved at the midnight deadline after a deal involving Malcolm Brogdon fell through. There have been rumors swirling around social media that the Celtics decided to move Marcus because of locker room issues with Jaylen Brown.

It was reported by The Athletic that Brown and Smart had a “heated confrontation” following Boston’s loss to the Heat in Game 2 of this year’s Eastern Conference Finals, during which objects were reportedly thrown around inside the locker room.

Smart addressed the issue in an interview this morning and wanted to be sure to clear the air.

“Jayson & Jaylen are my brothers for life and I don’t think what people see is enough of what our relationship really is. We’ve been through a lot together. “When My mom passed away, JB was actually one of the people on that plane that came to Dallas to the funeral. I just want to shut all rumors now that me and JB had beef. I have no beef with anybody with the Celtics.”

Smart also said he has no hard feelings after being told a week earlier that he would not be traded during the offseason.

“I love this team; I love this organization; I love the people, the fans, everybody, the support I’ve have always gotten for my nine years,” said Smart.
