Video: Julian Edelman’s Season May Be Over According To Ian Rapoport

Julian Edelman had surgery on his knee earlier this week and was expected to only miss a few games, but it looks like it is more serious than originally thought.

Bill Belichick said he expects Edelman back this year, but that is far from certain according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. Rapoport said people close to Edelman believe his season could be over.

“He had knee surgery late this week on a knee that really has been bothering him the entirety of the season,” Rapoport said. “From what I understand, his knee is bone-on-bone, so he had surgery to clean things out and ease some discomfort.

“I talked to several people close to him, they have their doubts on if that is the case. Either way, if he returns this season he will be doing it on a knee that still hurts.”

Edelman has struggled mightily this season with only 21 receptions for 315 yards in 7 games.

This doesn’t sound good for Edelman’s future either. It is entirely possible Patriots fans may have already seen Julian’s last game in a Patriots uniform.
