Video: Atlanta Hawks Star Suspended For Game #5 In Boston For Bumping An Official

The Atlanta Hawks will be without the star guard Dejounte Murray for Game 5 in Boston after Murray made inappropriate contact and verbally abused a game official at the end of yesterday Game 4 loss to the Celtics,” the NBA announced on Monday.

Murray will serve his suspension when the Hawks visit Boston for Game 5 of the series at TD Garden. He bumped into an official at the end of Sunday’s playoff loss to the Boston Celtics, prompting an NBA investigation into whether the contact was intentional.

TNT broadcast footage didn’t catch the incident, but a fan’s video from the stands is clear enough to show that Murray approached referee Gediminas Petraitis with seconds remaining in Boston’s 129-121 win.

In the video, Murray can be seen bumping his chest into Petraitis’ shoulder while leaning in to come face-to-face with the official. As Murray walked away, Petraitis turned and stared while Murray pointed toward the stands on the opposite side of the court. Two Hawks officials quickly approached to restrain and guide him toward the tunnel.

Murray was averaging 25,3 points per game, along with 7.3 rebounds, and 5.8 assists in the series against Boston. This may prove to be an unsurmountable loss to the Hawks.
