The Patriots Are Bringing Back The Red Throwback Jerseys In 2022
Fans have been waiting for a decade for the New England Patriots to wear their red throwbacks. Unfortunately a ridiculous NFL rule blocked that from happening, but that rule has been lifted. Starting next season NFL teams will be eligible use two helmets in the season instead of the current rule of just one being allowed.
βIn a memo sent to teams this afternoon, the league announced a new policy that will give teams the opportunity to use two different helmets starting in the 2022 season, a popular move with fans who like alternate and throwback uniforms.β
Teams can pair the second helmet with alternate, throwback or Color Rush uniforms, so long as they follow all league policies on ensuring that all alternate helmets are properly fitted, and that all players are provided with sufficient opportunity to wear the alternate helmets in practice prior to wearing them in a game.β
Patriots red throwbacks officially making a comeback next season, per the Patriots Hall of Fame.
The team all but confirmed when they debuted the current uniform set that they'd reintroduce the reds as soon as the NFL ditches its one-helmet rule, which it will in 2022. https://t.co/c6oHxybbA4
