Red Sox Will Promote Bobby Dalbec After Trading Mitch Moreland To The Padres For A Pair Of Prospects
The Red Sox rebuild continues. The Sox traded away clutch hitting first baseman Mitch Moreland to the San Diego Padres for a couple prospects. Moreland has had a big season so far, batting .328 with eight home runs and 21 RBI. The Red Sox will get a look at the future by bringing up hard hitting Bobby Dalbec, who batted .239 with 27 home runs between Double- and Triple-A last season, to take Moreland’s roster spot, and he should see plenty of time at first base, along with Michael Chavis.
The Sox acquired OF Jeisson Rosario and 3B Hudson Potts in exchange for Moreland, a very solid return.
Mitch Moreland has been traded to the San Diego Padres, as @ByRobertMurray reported. Outfielder Jeisson Rosario and third baseman Hudson Potts are headed back to Boston. Padres had an upcoming roster crunch this winter and Boston gets a couple of good prospects back.

After trading Mitch Moreland for 2 position prospects that don’t make any sense to me… the Red Sox are FINALLY calling up their 3rd overall prospect Bobby Dalbec.
Excited to watch his raw power in an actual regular season game. pic.twitter.com/9o8qErzkJW
