Red Sox and Rafael Devers Have Agreed to an 11-year, $331 Million Contract Extension.
Red Sox nation can rest easy tonight. The Red Sox and Rafael Devers have agreed to an 11-year, $331 million contract extension.
Devers’ long-term contract extension with the Red Sox will begin in 2024 after he earns $17.5 million this season in his final year of salary arbitration.
The 26-year-old superstar third baseman, was to become a free agent at the conclusion of the 2023 season, but will now be under contract with Boston through the 2035 season. A great deal for both sides as Devers batted .295/.358/.521 with 27 home runs in 614 plate appearances last season. Boston’s ownership had little choice than to retain their last remaining franchise cornerstone following the departures of Xander Bogaerts and Mookie Betts over the last few years.
Source confirms: Rafael Devers in agreement with Red Sox on 11-year, $331M extension that begins in 2024. Deal includes $20M signing bonus. First with agreement was Carlos Baerga. Amount is indeed $331M, not $332M.
