The Patriots have cut Dalton Keene loose after moving up for him in the 2020 draft to select the TE out of Virginia Tech. Keene was injured often during his time in New England and never got a chance to make an impact on the field. It was thought that he would be able to fill a role in both tight end, and fullback positions, but he never panned out.
Keene played in 6 games during his rookie season until he suffered a knee injury, and then suffered another knee injury last season that knocked him out for the entire season.
That combined with the Patriots 2021 offseason spree that brought in Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith sealed his fate with the Patriots.
Dalton Keene, the 2020 third-round pick from Virginia Tech, battled injuries throughout his time in New England. Just couldn’t seem to string together enough time on the field to generate any positive momentum. https://t.co/d6kPhc1UIA
