Matthew Slater Said He Would Welcome A Patriots Coaching Position ‘With open arms’
Matthew Slater still has not made a decision on his future. While many have speculated that the special teams legend will hang it up after 16 seasons, he is not ready to go there yet, but has made it known that he wants to remain on the Patriots sideline.
The long-time captain said he’d be open to returning to New England’s coaching staff.
“I will always consider myself a New England Patriot,” Slater said. “So if I can serve in the role of a coach, administrator on the staff, that’s something that I would welcome with open arms. We’ll see. There’s always change in football, so we’ll see what plays out. But I think the Lord has given me so much and taught me so much, it’d be a shame for it just to end with me. I’d love to be able to continue to pass those things along to the next generation.”
You could be sure Patriots fans would also welcome the idea with open arms.
