Malcolm Butler Is Out For The Season After Being Place On IR By The Patriots
Super Bowl 49 hero Malcolm Butler’s comeback attempt will have to be put on hold after he was placed on the injured reserve and effectively ending his season. DB Joejuan Williams was also put on injured reserve earlier in the day.
Butler was attempting a comeback after spending 2021 out of football, and he looked like a frontrunner for the job in OTAs but eventually lost time to Terrance Mitchell and Jack Jones. Williams had played minimal snaps in his first three seasons.
The deadline for NFL clubs to trim from 85 to 80 active players is set for Aug. 23. The 53-man cutdown will be on Aug. 30th.
The Patriots released Malcolm Butler with an injury settlement. Butler injured his hip in the preseason opener before he was placed on IR, per source.
