Kendrick Bourne Calls Out Patriots’ Patricia Decision: “Crazy Choice”
In a recent interview on the Zolak & Bertrand Show, upcoming NFL free agent Kendrick Bourne didn’t hold back when discussing the Patriots’ decision to hand over the offensive reins to Matt Patricia before the 2022 NFL season. The move, according to Bourne, could only be described as a “questionable decision”.
Bourne, who had previously experienced offensive coordinator changes during his tenure with the Patriots, reflected on the challenges posed by the transition. “It was rough,” he admitted. “Even the media and the world were looking at it, wondering what was going on. We all had the same questions: Why?”.
The wide receiver acknowledged that he, too, fell victim to the situation, focusing on the “why” instead of personal growth. “Struggling in 2022, man,” Bourne shared. However, he used the circumstances as motivation to come back stronger in 2023, ultimately becoming a better player despite the questionable coaching decision.
When asked about Matt Patricia’s tenure, Bourne didn’t mince words. “It was a crazy choice,” he emphasized. The decision to hand over the offense to Patricia raised eyebrows across the league, especially considering the team’s previous success under different coordinators.
Looking ahead, Bourne expressed optimism about the Patriots’ new offensive coordinator, Alex Van Pelt. “I don’t know much about him,” Bourne admitted, “but I think it’s different. Bringing a West Coast vibe might be just what we need.”
Hopefully the Patriots can drastically improve their offense in the offseason through free agency and the upcoming NFL draft.
