Chris Sale Ties MLB Record With An Immaculate 3rd Inning
If there were any doubts, Chris Sale certainly looks like he’s all the way back. Sale already has back-to-back wins since coming returning from Tommy John surgery this month. Tonight in the third inning he took it up a notch by tossing an Immaculate inning.
The immaculate inning is quite rare although, Sale was able to throw two of them in 2019. Tonight’s Immaculate inning was the third of his career. It was the first time there was an immaculate inning throwing at Fenway buy a Red Sox pitcher since Pedro Martinez did it in 2002.
Chris Sale joins Sandy Koufax as the only pitchers to throw 3 immaculate innings.
