Cam Newton Has Officially Been Named Starting Quarterback For The Patriots
They Patriots have officially named Cam Newton the starting quarterback of the New England Patriots. He was also named as an offensive captain. Newton has obviously checked all the boxes health wise, as he had to beat out 2nd year quarterback Jarrett Stidham and long time backup Brian Hoyer for the job. Bill Belichick obviously must like Newton a lot to give him the honor of being a team captain.
Per reporter Jim McBride, coach Bill Belichick informed the team in a Thursday meeting. Cam immediately took over the locker room and huddle, and Belichick has raved about Newton’s competitiveness and work ethic. Newton is facing the same supporting cast issues Tom Brady had, but his legs will give the Patriots an extra weapon in the offense.
