A Gambler Who Threatened To Murder Julian Edelman And Gronk Along With Other Athletes Has Plead Guilty
Benjamin “Parlay” Patz faces up to five years in federal prison after entering a guilty plea that he made horrific threats towards numerous professional athletes including a threat kill Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski, and rape their families.
The 24 year old Patz, who initially gained fame on social media after incredibly winning over a million dollars in 2 months by betting parlays, plead guilty in Tampa federal court to charges of “transmitting threats in interstate or foreign commerce,” according to court records. Patz made extremely disturbing comments through social media messages toward athletes that were involved in his bets (via The Associated Press). The FBI has been investigating Patz since charges were initially made prior to 2021, and what they’ve uncovered is a series of violent messages.
According to an affidavit provided by the Department of Justice, Patz used multiple anonymous accounts to send graphic threatening Instagram messages to MLB, NFL and college athletes connected to games he’s suspected of wagering on.
Patz bet $10,000 on the Rams to win the Super Bowl. After they lost, Patz sent a direct message to a Patriots player with the initials J.E. which is certainly Julian Edelman.
“I’ll rape and murder your entire family,” Patz allegedly wrote. Edelman caught 10 passes for 141 yards en route to the game’s MVP.
Patz also sent a note to R.G. Rob Gronkowski
“I will brutally rape and murder your family. I will enter your home while you sleep and sever your neck open with a dull knife.”
The Department of Justice announces that Benjamin Patz, AKA "Parlay Patz" has pleaded guilty to "transmitting threats in interstate or foreign commerce" by threatening players who compromised his bets.
He faces a max of 5 years in jail.
