Xander Bogaerts Has Been Named The American League Player Of The Week
Xander Bogaerts broke out of a slump in a big way going 15-for-31 (.536) in the past seven games. Bogaerts has now recorded multiple hits in nine consecutive games. His best game of the week came on Wednesday, when he launched a grand slam as part of a five-RBI performance in a win over the Twins.
Bogaerts is currently leading the American League with a .317 batting average with 12 home runs, and 63 RBIs. This is the second time he’s been named Player of the Week in his career with the other one coming back in July of 2018. He’s the second Red Sox to be named Player of the Week this year, joining Trevor Story, who won the award in May.
