Video: The Referees Took A Potential Touchdown Away From The Patriots On The Worst Call Of The Year
People are always accusing the referees of helping the Patriots, but they can all shut their mouths forever after the refs blew the whistle on a 2nd quarter interception on Patrick Mahomes. While Mahomes was being sacked he released the ball prior to hitting the ground about 6 inches from Calhoun’s hands who intercepted the ball and took off with it. At that point the referees blew the whistle early which drove Bill Belichick into a tirade on the sidelines. To make matters worse, during all the confusion the play was ruled a sack and the Chiefs rushed to punt the ball before Belichick even knew the call on the field. At worst the Patriots would have had the ball in the red zone.

The Chiefs have gone without a touchdown in the opening half for only the third time in the Patrick Mahomes era.
The other two instances?
A Week 6, 2018 loss to the Patriots.
And the 2018 AFC Championship loss to the Patriots.
