Video: Max Kellerman Finally Admits He Was Wrong About Tom Brady Falling Off A Cliff
It took long enough, but Max Kellerman is finally ready to admit that he made one of the worst predictions in the history of organized sports. For years Max had been predicting Tom Brady was finished, following the Patriots getting their ass handed to them in an early 2016 regular season game against Kansas City.
For years Tom has made him look like a clown as he, and the Patriots kept winning championships while Kellerman kept doubling down his prediction in a hope that time would catch up to Tom.
Now at age 43, Brady continues to sling the ball after leaving for Tampa and has lead the Bucs to a 5-2 record with 18 touchdowns and 1,910 yards against 4 interceptions almost halfway through the season. At this point Max has decided he can’t keep up this charade any longer.
“That was the cliff — right around that age, 40 years old, certainly 41, 42, it was over,” Kellerman on Monday explained on “First Take.”
“I just looked at the actuary tables, basically, right? And said no one’s ever done it. If Tom Brady does it, he will be defying the odds. The fact that he has, he’s defied the odds.”
“The fact that no one had done it until Tom Brady seemed to suggest that he also wouldn’t do it. The fact that he’s done it adds to his legacy as the greatest of all time — which, by the way, I’ve thought he was the greatest of all time for over 10 years. Like five years before I made the prediction. But I can’t deny the way he’s playing. It’s not just that he has weapons. He looks really good using them.”
“I was wrong,” Kellerman finally admitted. “Tom Brady never fell off a cliff.”
For many Patriots fans this is bittersweet. As much as it hurt to see Tom leave, had he stayed in New England this would be a much different story. With the lack of offensive weapons on the team Max would probably be giving himself a pat on the back and talking about Tom Brady’s demise. As much as I wanted to see Tom retire as a Patriot, I never wanted to see the team fail under his leadership. If he can keep this up maybe we can get him back in a couple years. After all, Tom did say he wants to play until he is 50. They say time catches up to us all, but time never met Tom Brady before.
