Scott Zolak Believes Jarrett Stidham Will Be The Patriots Starter This Season
While the Cam Newton signing should make Cam Newton the heavy favorite to be the Patriots starter this season, he has not yet been awarded the job. There are still people out there that believe 2nd year quarterback Jarrett Stidham will win the job outright in training camp, including former Patriots quarterback Scott Zolak.
According to Zolak,
“I believe Jarrett’s gonna be the starter, from the people I’ve talked to,” Zolak said on today’s “Zolak & Bertrand” show. “People that I trust, players, people tied to the team, team captains. The way they speak of Jarrett Stidham and the work he has put in.”
While it does seem like a longshot, you can’t expect Stidham to roll over and die. Cam Newton is going to have to fight for the job in training camp. If Stidham is somehow able to wrestle the job away from a healthy Cam Newton, it will speak volumes about how much the Patriots believe in him, and if he doesn’t he gets extra seasoning. It is a win/win situation as far as the Patriots are concerned. At the end of the day, Bill Belichick is going to award the starting job to the person he believes can best help the team win.
Then again maybe Zo is hitting the sauce, and doing a lot of wishful thinking.
The #Patriots are Cam Newton's team now … right? Not so fast ?
