Patriots Select UCLA Tight End Devin Asiasi

The Patriots trade up to number 91 to take UCLA Tight end Devin Asiasi. The Patriots desperately needed a new tight end and Asiasi is a very athletic tight end that is very physical and versatile. Blocking is not his greatest strength but he isn’t afraid to get dirty. Devin can catch better than most tight ends, and should be a matchup problem for opposing linebackers. Asiasi averaged over 15.0 yards per catch and, more to the point, 14 plays of 20-plus yards with the Bruins the past two seasons. He should make an immediate impact next season in the Patriots offense. He is not quite as gifted as Aaron Hernandez but he is a similar type hybrid tight end.
