Patriots Reportedly Like Jarrett Stidham More Than They Liked Jimmy Garoppolo
There have been plenty of rumors swirling around about the Patriots quarterback situation, but it appears the Patriots may be all in on Jarrett Stidham. This would make a ton of sense because Bill Belichick did not see any sense of urgency to draft a rookie quarterback in the early rounds of last weeks NFL Draft, and they don’t have a ton of cap space to sign any of the bigger name quarterbacks currently in free agency.
According to NESN reporter, Doug Kyed, the Patriots are so comfortable with the Stidham situation, they feel he may be better than Jimmy Garoppolo.
“I was told after the draft that the Patriots like Stidham more than they liked Jimmy Garoppolo. And I know what you’re thinking: “typical Patriots spin.” That ain’t it. This isn’t coming from someone who stands to gain anything by pumping up the Patriots.”
If that is the case, that would explain a lot about why they let Tom Brady go without making a strong push to re-sign him. It also makes perfect sense to give Stidham a chance because he knows the playbook and his salary is right around $1 million per year through the 2022 season. The Patriots may look around at a few other quarterbacks in the offseason but it is more likely they would be backup plans, as opposed to signing them to replace Stidham. Stid the kid is going to get his shot.

Cool story from Peter Schrager on the Bill Simmons Podcast about Jarrett Stidham and Patrick Mahomes.
He talks about how Stidham has never gotten a chance to be “the guy”. And he says that he thinks the Patriots are all-in on Jarrett pic.twitter.com/3M0D1v5hSR
