Patriots Have Signed Matt Corral As Mac Jones New Backup QB
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport the New England Patriots claimed ex- Carolina Panthers quarterback Matt Corral. The former Ole Miss quarterback was waived by Carolina on Wednesday.
The Panthers actually traded up with the Patriots to select Corral in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He did not make an appearance for Carolina last year after suffering a foot injury in the preseason.
A duel-threat quarterback at Ole Miss from 2018 to 2021, Corral was once expected to compete for the Panthers’ QB1 job until the Panthers selected Bryce Young with the #1 Overall pick in this years draft.
He is expected to serve as the backup to Mac Jones this season.
The Patriots now have another quarterback on roster: Matt Corral.
He was pretty dominant in college.
