Patriots are optimistic about their chances of signing DeAndre Hopkins
The New England Patriots seem to like their chances of signing All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to a deal. Hopkins is the best free agent receiver on the market, and the Patriots know they need a difference maker on offense.
The Athletic’s Jeff Howe reported on Wednesday through a source that the Patriots are “optimistic” about their chances of reaching a deal with Hopkins.
Hopkins is expected to meet with the Patriots today, and tomorrow so hopefully he will not leave town without a deal being reached.
Howe wrote:
The free agent is planning to visit Gillette Stadium on Thursday, and there’s optimism the two sides can find a way to reach an agreement, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.
The Patriots have an advantage over some of the other contenders for Hopkins services, because they have the cap space to make a real offer.
