Patrick Chung Pleads Not Guilty To Drug Charges
Patriots safety Patrick Chung has waived his arraignment and pleaded not guilty to a felony cocaine possession charge in New Hampshire, the state Supreme Court announced Monday morning.
Police said when members of the Meredith, New Hampshire police department were called to Chung’s lakeside home for “a call for service” on June 25.
“During the course of that call, the police obtained the evidence which has led to the current charges being filed,” police said in a news release.
Chung was not arrested at the time.
Police said following their investigation, the Belknap County Attorney’s Office made the decision to indict Chung. The grand jury returned its indictment on August 8, charging him with one count of possession of a controlled drug.
Possession of cocaine is a Class B felony and carries a fine of up to $2,000 and a potential prison term of up to seven years.
“We are aware of the reports regarding Patrick Chung,” the New England Patriots said in a statement. “We will not be commenting while his judicial proceedings take place.”
With the suspicious circumstances surrounding the case it may be a while before anything is sorted out regarding punishment from the NFL. Chung was not at home at the time of the incident.
