N’Keal Harry’s Trainer Is Furious Over A Report That He Blamed Cam Newton For Holding Harry Back
After the Boston sports media reported earlier that N’Keal Harry’s trainer blamed Cam Newton for N’Keal’s failure to launch, Rischad Whitfield fired back.
“WTF! Hell f’n naw!!
@McKennAnalysis
How TF are you going to mis-quote like this?! Naw. See that many why I don’t be talking to y’all reporters. Y’all twist shit up. I’ll never blame another man for someone’s lack of production . GTFOH with that entire article.”
Whitfield is clear that is not what he meant when discussing N’Keal’s issues. He claims his statement was taken out of context, and that Cam Newton is not the one to blame.
“We’ve got a new quarterback. We’ve got to put some of that shit on Cam,” Whitfield said. “Cam hasn’t been the most accurate this year. Like if (N’Keal) had Tom Brady, Tom Brady would’ve fed him. But we’re back there with Cam and Cam’s getting acclimated to the offense, too.”
Whitfield added: “It’s a big deal coming from Tom Brady to Cam Newton. … That’s one of Cam Newton’s biggest issues is mechanics.”
Sure, Cam’s inaccuracy this season has not been helpful, but Harry’s inability to get separation, and his numerous costly penalties are the real issue.
To this point Harry has been another in a long list of receivers the Patriots have drafted over the past two decades that have failed to reach expectations.
In 11 games this season, Harry only has 29 receptions for 277 yards and two touchdowns. During his rookie season, he had 12 receptions for 105 yards and two touchdowns in seven games. These are not the numbers the Patriots envisioned when they picked him in the first round.
