New England Patriots Are Not Expected To Hire A GM This Season
The New England Patriots are not expected to hire a GM this season according to NBC Sports Boston’s Phil Perry. The Patriots hire Jerod Mayo yesterday as their head coach and it most people imagined they would be searching for a new general manager.
But that might not be the case, according to the latest report.
NBC Sports Boston’s Phil Perry reported on Saturday that the Patriots aren’t expected to hire a new general manager after parting ways with Bill Belichick earlier in the week. It sounds like the Kraft’s will be pulling the strings on what looks to be a full rebuild of the offense. Matt Groh and Eliot Wolf will both be counted on to carry out many of the GM operations.
It is a bold strategy with so much on the line. The Patriots have a ton of cap space to go along with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. What happens this offseason will have a major impact on the Patriots over the next few seasons.
Here’s what I’m told on the Patriots front-office situation…
They are not expected to bring in a new general manager. It’s anticipated by team sources that both Matt Groh and Eliot Wolf will remain with the Patriots and have prominent roles in personnel.
