MLB Postseason Hero Randy Arozarena Detained In Mexico For Assault After Attempting To Abduct His Daughter
MLB’s surprise breakout postseason star Randy Arozarena, of the Tampa Bay Rays was reportedly arrested in Mexico after an altercation with his ex-wife and ex-father-in-law, and an attempt to take his daughter from them.
Arozarena, who defected from Cuba to Mexico before coming to the United States to play baseball, allegedly physically attacked his ex-father-in-law while attempting to forcibly take his daughter, and there may have been additional violence.
Arozarena, who was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals in January, hit .281 with seven home runs, 11 RBIs and a 1.022 OPS in 76 regular-season plate appearances with Tampa Bay this season.
Arozarena gained worldwide notoriety in the postseason after batting .377 with 10 homers, 14 RBIs and a 1.273 OPS leading Tampa to the World Series.
Tampa Bay star Randy Arozarena was detained in Mexico after an incident in which he allegedly tried to take his daughter from her mother and assaulted the woman’s father, sources told ESPN, confirming a Yucatán Ahora report. MLB’s Department of Investigations is looking into it.
