Luka Doncic has been downgraded to questionable ahead of Sunday’s Game 2 against the Celtics

The Celtics may have an easier time in Game 2 of the NBA Finals tonight if the Mavericks are missing their best player.

Luka Doncic, the Dallas Mavericks’ star player, faces uncertainty ahead of Game 2 in the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics. The Mavericks downgraded him from probable to questionable due to a thoracic contusion, which joins his existing injuries—a right knee sprain and left ankle soreness. During Saturday’s practice, Doncic was observed clutching his chest and rib cage, but the exact timing of the thoracic contusion remains unclear. Throughout the postseason, he has battled these ailments, including the knee sprain suffered during Game 3 of the Mavericks’ first-round series against the Clippers.

This could just be more mind games from Dallas head coach Jason Kidd, but if it is legit, and he’s forced to sit out, expect Kyrie Irving to assume starting PG duties. One of Dante Exum, Jaden Hardy, Josh Green or Tim Hardaway Jr. will take Doncic’s spot in the starting five.
