Julian Edelman Is Not Expected To Play Again This Season
It what should not be a major surprise to anyone, Julian Edelman will not be activated for tonight’s game against the Buffalo Bills, and is not expected to play in the season finale against the New York Jets. Edelman has a deteriorating knee condition with reportedly no cartilage left in his knee. This certainly puts his career in jeopardy after back to back injury filled seasons, and his future with the Patriots is uncertain.
Edelman will turn 35 in May. He’ll finish the year with his fewest catches (21), receiving yards (315), and touchdowns (0) since 2011 if he’s unable to return for the Patriots next game.
The #Patriots are not activating WR Julian Edelman from Injured Reserve today, which is not a surprise. And it’s unlikely that he plays next week. Edelman’s season is almost certainly over — and at age 34, his future is uncertain, as well.
