Julian Edelman Is Eligible To Return As Early As Next Weekend
The Patriots got some good news regarding Julian Edelman’s recovery. While it was unknown if Edelman would play again this season, it appears he may be back even sooner than expected. Edelman is eligible to return as early as next weekend if everything goes smoothly, though it is a longshot.
Julian Edelman had knee surgery on October 29th. While people close to Edelman said he was likely done for the year, Bill Belichick said he didn’t believe the injury was season-ending.
According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, things are going better than expected.
“I heard some optimism from those close to receiver Julian Edelman with how his knee has responded since he underwent a precautionary standard knee procedure on Oct. 29,” he wrote Sunday. “That optimism is a result of some recent on-field work, in which Edelman was apparently moving well, but the key will be how the knee responds as he continues to stack days together.”
Edelman is eligible to return as early as next Sunday against Houston. If he is able to make it back somewhat healthy sometime in the next few weeks, he would provide the Patriots offense with a much needed boost.
