James Develin Announces His Retirement After Eight Seasons With The Patriots
Patriots fullback James Develin announced his retirement today, due to complications from a neck injury he suffered last September in Miami. Develin was a key member of 3 Super Bowl championship teams, and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2019. James was originally undrafted when he entered the league back in 2010, but finally got his shot hallway through 2012 when he was promoted from the practice squad by the Patriots.
The veteran fullback on Monday announced his retirement from the NFL in an Instagram post.
“Due to unforeseen complications with the injury that ended my season last year, I have decided it is both in my and my family’s best interest to retire from the game of football,” Develin wrote. “… I have to prioritize my team at home before anything else.”
