Former Red Sox Player Julio Lugo Dead At Age 45
Tragedy has struck the Red Sox organization again with the announcement that former shortstop Julio Lugo has died at the age of 45 after suffering from a heart attack over the weekend.
Lugo played with the Red Sox from 2007-09.
He was signed by the Red Sox as a free agent heading into the 2007 season, agreeing to four-year, $36 million deal after spending the majority of the three previous seasons with Tampa Bay.
Lugo, would have turned 46 years on Tuesday, He had a 12-year career in the majors while making stops with seven different teams. He also played a key role for the Red Sox World Series championship team in 2007.
Lugo had a career .269 average along with 80 home runs and 475 RBI.
