Former Red Sox Catcher Christian Vazquez Signed With The Minnesota Twins
Red Sox fans hoping that fan favorite catcher Christian Vazquez would return after being traded away at the deadline last year will not be getting the news they were hoping for. Vazquez signed a 3-year deal with the Minnesota Twins this evening.
It will be a three-year, $30 million deal, pending a physical exam. Vázquez had been generating interest from the Astros, Padres, Cubs, and Guardians.
The 32-year-old Vázquez spent his first 7 1/2 big league seasons with the Red Sox before being traded to the Astros at last season’s Trade Deadline. He helped guide Houston to a World Series title, including catching the club’s combined no-hitter against the Phillies in Game 4 of the Fall Classic
