Cam Newton Says ‘This is not about money for me, it’s about respect’
Some players around the league including San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman have been criticizing Cam Newton’s deal with the Patriots. Sherman said the contract is “disgusting” that a former NFL MVP would have such a low base salary, but Cam Newton is not focused on the money. Cam is seeking revenge to prove that he is still among the top talented players in the league.
It is true the Patriots may have gotten away with highway robbery for that level of talent, but Newton the only thing on Cam’s mind is winning. And that should send fear into the rest of the teams in the NFL.
On Thursday, Newton explained that 2020 isn’t about money, but about his pride.
“It’s not a lot of things money cannot buy, but amongst the top of that list of things, you would find respect as one of those!” Newton wrote.
“Not a lot of things money can not buy, but amongst the top of the list of things, you would find respect as one of those. “This is not about money for me, it’s about respect.”
“All I know is work” and “I’m betting it all on me.”
Some Patriots fans have been slow to get on board with the signing, but if this doesn’t show Cam’s willingness to be a team player, nothing will.
