Bill O’Brien Is Returning To The Patriots As Offensive Coordinator
The New England Patriots got their wish with former offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien returning to his position this morning.
O’Brien was a Patriots’ assistant coach from 2007-2011, and now returns to coach Mac Jones, whom he briefly worked with at Alabama if they choose to go that direction.
O’Brien started out as an offensive assistant, before becoming the wide receivers coach and quarterback coach following Josh McDaniels’ departure to Denver. O’Brien was officially named New England’s Offensive Coordinator in 2011.
O’Brien spent one year in the position, leading the Patriots’ third-ranked scoring offense to a Super Bowl appearance. After the season, he took over as head coach at Penn State. Two years after that, he returned to the NFL as head coach of the Houston Texans.
It has also been rumored that Tom Brady they want to play wherever Bill O’Brien ended up. So let the rumor mill begin. It’s going to be a very interesting off season in Foxborough.
