Bill Belichick Reportedly Does Nothing But Rave About Cam Newton This Offseason

Many Patriots fans expect that the Patriots will part ways with Cam Newton after the Patriots went 7-9 last season, but according to the latest buzz, Bill Belichick has had nothing but good things to say about Cam. It appears there is a strong possibility he will be back next season.

According to the Boston Globe’s Ben Volin…

“Multiple sources who have spoken with Belichick this offseason said he does nothing but rave about Newton and the effort the quarterback put forth in 2020. The only problem Belichick is concerned with is Newton’s arm strength, with Newton having suffered multiple shoulder injuries in the last five years.”

Obviously Cam would have to give the Patriots another discount for this to happen, but it is feasible if they could give him some weapons to work with, along with a full offseason to recover and learn the playbook, Newton could put on a better performance. Newton looked great before coming down with Covid last season, after that he faded fast and was visibly weaker and did not look like the same player that a few weeks earlier had many fans calling to give him an extension on his contract.

There isn’t a ton of available quarterback talent that I would be willing to commit to long term on big money deals, so it is entirely possible Belichick will decide to bring Cam back.

Newton has also shown a strong interest in getting another opportunity with the Patriots next season. Prior to the season’s final game, Belichick also stated that he wished he and Newton “had more time together.”
