Bill Belichick Appears To Be Grooming Jerod Mayo To Be His Successor

Bill Belichick will not be around forever. The Patriots did everything they could to keep what appears to be his eventual successor, Jerod Mayo who was highly sought after by other teams including a defensive coordinator position in Cleveland and the head coaching opening in Carolina. New England Patriots LBs coach Jerod Mayo was alongside Bill Belichick for all of New England’s offensive coordinator interviews last week, according to Albert Breer. It is a good sign of Mayo’s growing role with the team.

The Patriots met with its five Offensive coordinator candidates over videoconference.
It appears he has received assistant head coach role and will be a massive piece in decisions moving forward.

It has become clear that the former Patriots All-Pro linebacker, and team captain has made a huge leap in the Patriots organizations plans and would be a great choice to carry the torch once Belichick eventually retires.
