A List Of All The Records Tom Brady Broke In Super Bowl LV
Tom Brady continued his assault on the records book last time, almost assuring many of them will be permanent in the wake of his 7th Super Bowl championship.
Brady already owned to a ton of records and he either set new ones or added on to records that he already owns. Here is a list of all the records courtesy of WEEI’s Scott McLaughlin:
Super Bowl wins: Brady has now won seven Super Bowls, two more than any other player in history (Charles Haley won five) and three more than any other quarterback (Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw each won four). The seven wins are also more than any NFL franchise (the Patriots and Steelers have each won six).
Super Bowls played: Sunday was Brady’s 10th career Super Bowl appearance. That is four more than any other player (Mike Lodish and Stephen Gostkowski have both played in six) and five more than any other quarterback (John Elway played in five).
Super Bowl MVPs: Brady won his fifth Super Bowl MVP on Sunday. That is two more than second-place Joe Montana.
Playoff wins: Brady now has 34 career playoff wins. Montana is second among quarterbacks with 16.
Playoff starts: Brady has now started 45 playoff games. Peyton Manning is second among quarterbacks with 27.
Super Bowl passing TDs: With his three touchdowns Sunday, Brady now has 21 career passing touchdowns in the Super Bowl. Montana is second with 11.
Playoff passing TDs: Brady now has 83 career touchdown passes in the playoffs. Montana and Aaron Rodgers are tied for second with 45.
Super Bowl passing yards: With 201 passing yards Sunday, Brady now has 3,039 career passing yards in the Super Bowl. Kurt Warner is second with 1,156.
Playoff passing yards: Brady now has 12,449 career passing yards in the playoffs. Peyton Manning is second with 7,339.
Super Bowl pass completions: Brady has now completed 277 passes in the Super Bowl. Peyton Manning is second with 103.
Playoff pass completions: Brady now has 1,106 career completions in the playoffs. Peyton Manning is second with 649.
Super Bowl pass attempts: Brady has now thrown 421 passes in the Super Bowl. Peyton Manning is second with 155.
Playoff pass attempts: Brady now has 1,764 career pass attempts in the playoffs. Peyton Manning is second with 1,027.
Most Super Bowl touchdown passes to one player: With two touchdown passes to Rob Gronkowski on Sunday, Brady now has five career Super Bowl touchdown passes to his favorite tight end. Montana and Jerry Rice are second with four Super Bowl touchdown connections.
Most playoff touchdown passes to one player: Brady has now thrown 14 touchdown passes to Gronkowski in the playoffs, which is also a record. Montana to Rice is second with 12.
Oldest player to win a Super Bowl: Brady was already the oldest quarterback to win a Super Bowl after the Patriots’ win over the Rams two years ago, but at 43 years old, he is now the oldest player, period, to win one. The previous record was held by punter Jeff Feagles, who was 41.
Oldest player to play in a Super Bowl: Brady also now holds this record, which was previously held by kicker Matt Stover, who had just turned 42 when the Colts lost to the Saints in Super Bowl XLIV.
Most decades with a Super Bowl win: Brady is the first player to win a Super Bowl in three different decades. He won three in the 2000s, three in the 2010s, and now one in the 2020s.
Quarterbacks to win a Super Bowl with multiple teams: Brady joined Peyton Manning as one of two quarterbacks to win a Super Bowl with two different teams. Manning won one with the Colts and one with the Broncos.
First half for the ages: Brady became the first quarterback in Super Bowl history to complete 80% of his passes and throw for three touchdowns in one half of a Super Bowl.
