A Fans Video Of The Buffalo Bills Sideline Shows Exactly Why Any Rules Against Filming Opponents Are Obsolete

On Sunday night a fan mocked the pending investigation against the New England Patriots, by recording the Buffalo Bills sideline on his phone. It is the same view that has many NFL fans up in arms after an independent film crew hired by the Patriots, filmed the Bengals sideline last Sunday. The fan was trying to be funny by saying ” Hey I got you Patriots”, but at the same time he proved how ridiculous the entire situation is. Any fan can sit in the stands and film the exact same thing with today’s technology. It is time for the NFL to get with the times and update their rulebook. If something can truly be gained from this type of sideline footage, you can be sure every team in the league is already doing it. The NFL fans can not be that gullible to believe only the Patriots would do this. If the Patriots were doing this intentionally, they certainly wouldn’t send a guy in a Pats jersey and Bruins hat and have him film in plain sight of Bengals officials. Why would they do that when they could easily disguise themselves as Bengals fans, and sit anywhere on the same side of the field and get the same quality video?

This does not excuse the independent film crew or anyone working for the Patriots. Even though this appears to be a minor infraction and nothing to do with the team or coaching staff, it still gives ammo to all the Patriots detractors who happily bring back the Spygate claims. They had no business filming anything without full awareness of the rules beforehand, whoever archaic they may be.
