The Patriots acquired DE Michael Bennett from the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles get a 5th round pick and send a 7th round pick to Patriots in 2020 draft. The deal will be official on March 13th. This is a good deal for both teams as the Eagles were reportedly willing to cut Bennett to get his $7.2 million cap hit off their books.
A solid pickup for the Pats should Flowers decide to bolt. Bennett is relatively cheap and can fill a big hole. Perhaps this trade will also entice Michael’s brother Marty to come out of retirement. It will be interesting to see how Gronk feels about it after their epic battle at the end of Super Bowl 49.

Michael and Martellus Bennett always have wanted to play together. Now that the Patriots are trading for Michael, Martellus is interested in coming out of retirement to join his brother in New England, per a source. Then would be the McCourty and Bennett Bros. in New England.
