The Patriots Acquired Tight End Eric Saubert From The Atlanta Falcons

The unenviable search to fill the gaping hole Rob Gronkowski left continues. The Patriots acquired TE Eric Saubert from the Falcons in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick.

Saubert is likely to be primarily used in blocking schemes, as he only had five receptions for 48 yards last season. He gives New England some added depth behind presumed Week 1 starter Matt LaCosse. The Patriots will try to hold things down until Ben Watson is able to return from his suspension in week 5. Saubert was a 5th round pick by the Falcons in 2017.
