Stephon Gilmore Ranked As The Top Shutdown Corner In The NFL

It wasn’t that long ago when some Patriots fans were left scratching their heads at the signing of Stephon Gilmore. It came on the heals of Malcolm Butler asking for Bill Belichick to fill up a Brinks truck full of money but Belichick balked at the notion.

Belichick shocked Patriots fans by giving Gilmore a five-year, $65 million deal that offseason. Some were even calling for the Patriots to cut him after he initially had early season struggles, but once he figured out the system, he became the most dominant corner in the NFL. This leads right back to why you should always trust Belichick’s decisions. They may not always work out perfectly but there has never been a better decision maker. Gilmore was named No. 22 on the NFL’s top 100 list for the 2018 season, which made him the No. 1 overall cornerback.
