Patriots looking to trade WR Malcolm Mitchell

Malcolm Mitchell’s brief tenure as a New England Patriot may be heading toward an abrupt end as NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that the Pats have been seeking a potential trade partner in a deal involving Mitchell.

Mitchell was drafted by the Pats in the 4th round in 2016 out of Georgia and caught 32 passes for 401 yards and four touchdowns in 14 games in his rookie season, however he has been injury prone. He dislocated his elbow during the 2016 preseason and had a knee issue at the beginning of the 2017 season that forced him onto the IR for the year.

If he is traded he will most likely be remembered fondly by Pats fans for his 6 catches for 70 yards in New England’s legendary come-from-behind win over the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI.

The Patriots are loaded at the WR position even with star WR Julien Edelman missing the first 4 games due to suspension and will try to unload Mitchell as he may have some value as he has shown flashes of being a special talent when healthy.
