Julian Edelman Is Feeling Good And Fired Up To Get This Season Started

Julian Edelman is excited and ready for the season to start. Patriots fans got quite a scare during the final preseason game after Edelman landed awkwardly on the same thumb that kept him out of training camp. According to Edelman everything is fine.

Edelman appeared on The Greg Hill Show on WEEI this morning, and was asked how the thumb is feeling?
“It’s a thumbs up, man. Thumbs up,” he said.

Of course Julian’s thumb could be falling off and he would have given the same answer. There are very few who have the mental toughness of Edelman, but if he wasn’t close to 100% the Patriots wouldn’t put him out there right away at this stage of the season.

Edelman also talked about how it is nice to come out of the gate from the start of the season this year. Edelman was coming off an ACL tear after missing the entire 2017 season, and was handed a 4 game suspension at the start of last season. It took some time to get back into his true form.

“I mean, you have a foundation this year,” he said. “Last year you’re running on fumes a little bit because you start from square zero with your knee and then you come back and you’re expected to do high velocity, high tempo, high athletic things with something that is very brand new to your body. It’s definitely a better start place this year, mentally. You also feel it physically. Emotionally, you feel it there. You’re feeling pretty good, especially coming off that whole year of such a grind last year with the knee.”
