Not that anyone around here needs convincing, but there are still millions of fans out there that question Tom Brady’s greatness. Broadway Joe Namath, the New York Jets legendary quarterback is not one of those people. When asked earlier today on the Howard Stern show he clearly stated “I’ve not seen anybody have that many big games and answer the challenge as well as he has,” when asked about Brady.
“Tom is the best,” Namath said. “I’ve been asked that question for many years and Johnny Unitas was my hero, Otto Graham was great, Slingin’ Sammy Baugh, I go back, these guys are great. But meantime, Tom has been challenged more in recent history certainly with huge games than anybody I can recollect and he stepped up every time.”
When asked about what makes Brady so great, Namath clearly pointed to what matters the most, it all comes down to winning more big games than anyone in history.
“I would have to say he’s the best at answering the challenge there ever was, yes,” Namath said. “I’ve not seen anybody have that many big games and answer the challenge as well as he has.”
Namath, made plenty of mistakes over his career that cost his team games. But in his mind, that’s never been the case for Tom Brady. Even in losing a few big games Brady was not the one that was at fault. While some may point to Joe Montana being 4-0, you have to be in it to win it and the stacked pre salary cap era 49ers team lost prior to making the big game so that theory is out the window.
Is @TomBrady the best-ever @NFL quarterback? @RealJoeNamath thinks so. “I've not seen anybody have that many big games and answer the challenge as well as he has,” he tells @HowardStern. pic.twitter.com/SmoIzrqp4p
