Patriots long snapper Joe Cardona was promoted to lieutenant by the Navy earlier today at Gillette Stadium. The promotion comes on the 75th anniversary of D-Day. Perhaps nobody was prouder than Patriots coach Bill Belichick who also served in the Navy. Belichick’s father coached at the Naval Academy for 33 years.
Cardona has proudly honored his service commitment since the Patriots drafted in 2015 NFL Draft. He and Roger Staubach are the only Naval Academy graduates to win multiple Super Bowls.
Very cool moment at Gillette Stadium this morning: Patriots LS Joe Cardona, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. A special honor that takes place on the 75th anniversary of D Day.
