Gronk Admits He May Get The Urge To Play Again Once The NFL Season Starts

One of the hardest things to do for any athlete is to walk away from the game for the last time. This will be no different for the slimmed down 30-year-old Rob Gronkowski. Although Gronk claims he is happy and enjoying where he is in life right now, he is still plenty young enough to have a change of heart and have more productive seasons. Gronk is feeling great right now and although it may be wishful thinking on the part of us Pats fans the possibility certainly exists. During an interview on the Rich Eisen Show Gronk admitted to as much.

“There’s definitely going to be times when you miss it and everything,” Gronkowski said, “I would always say that it’s still the offseason right now. I mean I can’t really say how I’m going to feel about it when the games start rolling around and everything. You know, I just felt like it was time. I feel really good right now and it was just definitely something I thought it was the right time and the right thing to do.”

Gronk also said that he has never experienced an August without football,

“You want to know something? I never had an August off in my life. So, it’s gonna be a little different,” he said. “That’s when it’s gonna start really seeing the change is when that comes around in August when I’m not in training camp; I might not know what to do with myself. To have that load off your back, I mean I’ve been playing football for 15 years straight in a row of that grind. Just relaxing right now feels good.”

While chances are slim of us seeing Gronk play again, until it is proved otherwise we will continue to hold out hope. It certainly isn’t improbable with the Patriots once again favored to win the Superbowl. The possibility of winning another ring has to weigh in the back of his mind.
