There are not many players in sports as loyal as Danny Amendola. Amendola originally came over to the Patriots to replace Wes Welker in 2013 on a 5 year 28.5 million dollar deal. Danny had some trouble living up to expectations in his first two seasons, but came up big in the playoffs in his 2nd season when the Patriots went on to beat Seattle in the Super Bowl. Although Danny never put up star statistics he’s made some very big plays for the Patriots when it has mattered most. Danny’s friendship with Tom Brady and Julian Edelman may also be a driving factor. Amendola’s willingness to trade in potential earnings for the comfort of remaining with the Patriots will go a long way to help his chances of returning in 2018.
If everyone comes back healthy next season the Patriots will have a very strong wide receiver core of Brandin Cooks, Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Malcolm Mitchell and Danny Amendola.
