Cam Newton Has Tested Positive For The Coronavirus And Will Be Out Against Kansas City

The coronavirus has reared it’s ugly head in Foxborough, and Cam Newton is it’s latest victim. This is a terrible blow for what was set up to be the biggest game of the year, against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. According to Ian Rapoport, Newton is the only Patriots player that has tested positive so far. Either Jarrett Stidham or Brian Hoyer will be asked to take over what may be an impossible task this Sunday if they play at all.

Patriots were scheduled to leave for KC at about 1 ET; trip now is on standby as they await more test results and guidance from the NFL.

If the results hold true Cam will also miss next weeks game against Denver, but would have a chance to return for the 49ers game in Week 7 with the Patriots bye coming early this year in Week 6.
